Tangible Type
Designers have a keen eye for typography irrespective of how the final form is presented. This project explores the possibilities of solving visual problems by using 3D printing to create an expressive, memorable and tactile experience.
Mind Map
For this project I used a mind map to organize as many emotions that I could think of.
When we speak, we can change the tone in our voice as well as its pitch. This enables us to communicate emotional cues to others without us specifically doing so.
With type, one is able to communicate those emotional cues by altering the characteristics of the type.
Sketches
From the mind map, I chose the emotion “cheerful” for my tangible type project. Visual research was conducted to inform the project about the visual elements that can be used to cause an individual to feel cheerful.
The most common forms resulted from the use of a variety of line weights and as well as repetitive patterns.
